Chelsea Secures Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in €65 Million Deal

Chelsea has reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to acquire the services of Jamie Gittens for a fee that could rise to €65 million ($76.1m), sources have confirmed to ESPN.

Earlier reports from ESPN indicated that representatives from both clubs engaged in direct negotiations in the United States during the Club World Cup. These discussions have now culminated in a successful agreement.

The highly-rated 20-year-old winger has reportedly agreed to a seven-year contract with the Premier League side. He is expected to complete his medical examination within the next 48 hours, finalizing his move to Stamford Bridge.

Despite FIFA regulations allowing teams to register up to two new players for the Club World Cup, Gittens will not be eligible to represent Chelsea in the competition. He is cup-tied due to his appearance as a substitute for Borussia Dortmund against Fluminense during the group stage.

Prior to reaching this agreement, Chelsea had two previous offers turned down by Dortmund. The highest bid, amounting to €50 million with add-ons, failed to meet the German club's valuation of the player.

Gittens will become the latest addition to the growing number of former Manchester City players at Stamford Bridge. He will join Liam Delap, who recently arrived from Ipswich Town for £30 million, as well as Cole Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo, who also have ties to Manchester City.

Even with the Gittens deal nearing completion, Chelsea remains actively pursuing additional attacking reinforcements. The club is reportedly interested in acquiring Brighton forward João Pedro, but faces competition from Newcastle in securing his signature.
